No smoking proposal ‘self-regulatory’

THE BROKEN Hill City Council has released the draft of its Smoke Free Playgrounds and Sporting Reserves policy. If the community supports the plan, these council owned areas will soon become smoke free.

However the general manager of the Broken Hill City Council, Mr Frank Zaknich, said any new regulations put into place regarding smoking in these areas would not be regulated by council and would not carry any penalty to those who ignore the policy which states smoking within 10 metres of council playgrounds and sporting fields is prohibited.
