AMUARY, Timothee, Heloise and Vanessa were among 83 pilgrims from Burgundy, France, who visited the city last week as part of the Days In The Dioceses program celebrations. The 83 French pilgrims were billeted out to local families during their four day stay, taking in the attractions of the Silver City and its surrounding areas before heading off to Sydney for World Youth Day 2008. NAIDOC Week: Advancing Australia Fair? DESPITE bitterly cold weather, locals gathered at Sturt Park last Thursday to celebrate Broken Hill’s National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Of Celebration, better known as NAIDOC Week, which ran nationally from July 6 to July 13. Read more |
There have been a number of break, enter and steal offences committed over the weekend, particularly in the Railwaytown and Western sections of town. Police remind residents to secure their houses and be aware of strange persons in the neighbourhood. Residents are urged to call police on 8087 0299 if they see anything suspicious. Read more |
